ARSENE WENGER has admitted he rushed Jack Wilshere’s return from his latest injury setback.
The Arsenal ace started against Norwich on Saturday — just six weeks after hurting his ankle. Boss Wenger said: “I rushed Jack back a bit, he was not completely ready. Jack has been out for six weeks, so maybe it was a bit too rushed what I did.“How careful do I have to be? I have to listen to the medical advice, use him when everything is all right and listen to him as well... how he feels.”
Wenger, who will make a decision on Wilshere’s fitness ahead of tonight’s Everton game, added: “I must also use my experience and the fact I know him very well.
“He’s trained with me since he was 16, so I know how his body responds to things.”
Wilshere, 21, was crocked in the North London derby defeat at Tottenham on March 3 and he lasted an hour of the 3-1 win over the Canaries.
The England midfielder — who missed the whole of the 2011-12 campaign with an ankle problem — accepts he needs more time to get back to his best.
He said: “I know it was only six weeks but you still lose your match sharpness and it takes a few games to come.
“It was frustrating, because I was flying just before I got injured. But it’s not anything like as long as the one before, so hopefully this time I can get it back more quickly. I wasn’t great on Saturday, I’m better than that.”
