BORUSSIA DORTMUND produced a magical comeback to kill off Malaga in the Champions League quarter-finals - andleft coach Jurgen Klopp admitting: “I think I need to see a doctor.”
A breathless four minutes of injury time saw Marco Reus and Felipe Santana haul the outgoing Bundesliga champions through after a thrilling second leg.Klopp added: “It feels like we’ve won the trophy. This is the best I’ve ever felt.”
Polish hotshot Robert Lewandowski forced the first real chance — gliding right and dinking an opportunistic shot from the edge of the box over keeper Willy — and his crossbar.
But the Spaniards had a shock in store for the unwitting majority of a 65,000 crowd.
Seizing on a defensive lapse, Joaquin picked his spot and fired past Roman Weidenfeller from just outside the area on 25 minutes.
The away goal left Dortmund needing two — but they took just 15 minutes to hit back.
A gorgeous team move down the right led to an outstanding Reus flick-on that Lewandowski took in his stride before knocking past Willy.
Klopp was furious with his side as the half time whistle blew, after Joaquin was allowed to ghost in and head too close to Weidenfeller.
And the anger seemed well used as Lewandowski raced out of the blocks after the break to blast a shot at Willy.
Within a minute, Joaquin was bemoaning not having already netted a hat-trick after again nodding a free header just too close to Weidenfeller.
Chances were coming thick and fast as Mario Gotze shinned wide from a narrowing angle after Sergio Sanchez failed to clear Malaga's lines.
Jeremy Toulalan then arrowed a fierce shot that the overworked Wiedenfeller had to punch away to his right in the nick of time.
But then Reus popped up at the other end to force Willy into a fantastic close-range save during a pulsating, increasingly desperate climax.
He used the same lucky left leg a minute later to keep out the disbelieving Gotze on 79 minutes.
An incisive break then allowed sub Eliseu to tap in at the far post — from an unnoticed offside position — to seemingly seal Malaga's place in history.
But Reus grabbed one back after a scramble too many for the Spanish back line.
And Santana forced home right at the death — again from an offside position — to seal a magical night for Klopp and his side.
