No Real failure

CITY SLICKER ... Roberto Mancini

ROBERTO MANCINI believes Manchester City’s Champions League woe has been put into perspective this week.

The Etihad club were criticised for their dismal European effort as they failed to make it out of the group stage for the second year running.
Yet two of their autumn opponents — Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund — booked semi-final places and will now meet each other in the last four later this month.
Mancini said: “I think the four best teams are in the semi-finals. Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund were better than us. We can’t do anything about it now. I think the other English teams would have struggled in the group, sure. These two teams are very strong.”
Mancini believes City’s largely disappointing season could still be classed as a success if they win the FA Cup.
He added: “To win every year is difficult even if you are a good team.
“But in the end, if we win the FA Cup and get second position, it will be a good season.”
