Palmer: Tiger is ready to kick butt

Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer

ARNOLD PALMER says Tiger Woods is ready to kick butt in Augusta – just as they both did in the riotous advert they filmed together.

Palmer and Woods play James Bond-style characters in The Rumble, the hilarious ad for the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 game, beating up a load of villains trying to steal their Major trophies.
Palmer said: “I think Tiger is also in the mood to go out and beat up on the guys a bit in the Masters.
“The way he won my event at Bay Hill to warm up for Augusta was incredibly impressive, especially on the back of his victory in his previous event at Doral.
“I see he only took 100 putts over the four rounds at Doral, a career best, and if he putts like that in the Masters I just don’t see how anyone can beat him.
“I’ve been watching Tiger since he was a little boy and kind of come along with him, and right now he is more within himself. He can hit the ball a long way, but he’s very methodical about his approach.

Tiger Woods has the fight to win Masters again

GOLF superstar teams up with Arnold Palmer in brilliant advert ahead of the first Major of the year at Augusta
“The way he’s playing right now, with three victories to his credit already this year, tells me his game is as good as it ever was – if not better!”
Woods and Palmer were seen sharing a joke that made them both break into huge grins as they walked off the final green together at Bay Hill.
Woods had just played the final hole in ultra-conservative fashion, making a bogey five which was good enough to secure a two shot victory.
That made it a record-equalling eighth victory in Palmer’s tournament – Sam Snead is the only other player to have won a tournament that many times.
The man they still call the King added: “I told Tiger I though he’d played it pretty safe by laying up and then still leaving himself a long way short with his third shot.
“But then he asked me about the sixty foot putt he almost holed, and I had to laugh. We all thought that one was going in.
“I like the way Tiger remained composed and focussed to close out that win. He was very much in control of his game and his emotions.
“After all he has been through he seems to be in a very good place at the moment.
“And amongst the current generation of players, nobody knows Augusta as well as he does.
“This is his 19th time there, right? And he’s won four of them, so that adds up to a lot of know-how and expertise.
“I’m one of the people who is genuinely surprised Tiger hasn’t won the Masters in eight years now, but I can’t see that continuing for much longer.
“As I said, if he putts anywhere near as well as he has been doing he is a threat to everyone. I like his chances a lot, I really do.”
Palmer, 83, also found Woods fun to act with – and insisted both men did their own stunts for The Rumble, although his tongue was clearly fixed firmly in his cheek.
He said: “Tiger was great, and of course Lee Trevino gets in on the action near the end, and that was great too. We all laughed so much.
“And I did all my own stunts, yes. I haven’t told anybody this, but I was an instructor in judo in the service, so I know a little bit about it. It was fun for me to get back into it.”
Woods will feel it is a lot more fun if he can get back into Major-winning mode this week.
