Redknapp: We’ll struggle to keep Loic if we go down

Loic Remy

HARRY REDKNAPP admits QPR face a battle to hold on to Loic Remy if they are relegated.

The French striker moved to Loftus Road from Marseille in an £8 million deal in January.
But he is understood to have a release clause in his contract if QPR drop out of the Premier League.
Astonishingly the 26 year-old is already the joint top scorer at Rangers, with five goals in seven league games.
Redknapp said: “It will be hard to hang on to Remy. He was someone I was chasing when I was at Spurs and the fee was about £20 million then.
“Every goal he has scored here has been a fantastic one.
“Over a full season he would get you 20 goals in the Premier League and a 20-goal-a-year man is going to be hard to hang on to.

“We have to make sure we stay up if we want to keep him. That’s the key although I haven’t discussed it with him or the owners.
“We want to keep him but there will be clubs out there who like him.”
Remy moved to Rangers after failing to agree personal terms with Newcastle. The Magpies are one of the clubs monitoring his progress in the event QPR go down.
Remy had been one of the leading scorers in France in recent seasons but struggled for form and fitness before leaving Marseille, scoring just one Ligue One goal in 14 appearances.
