Beckham should not have gone to China, says doctor

Fabrice Bryand, who has worked in the France setup, feels the veteran will not be fit to play for PSG on Friday following his long-haul trip
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham will not be fit to face Montpellier on Friday after his trip to China, according to Fabrice Bryand, the former France doctor.

The former Real Madrid star traveled to the Far East in his role as an ambassador for children’s football, but Bryand feels the journey will have affected his body ahead of the clash with the champions.

“The best preparation was not to travel non-stop. There is not too much trouble; muscle problems associated with prolonged sitting upright for such a long time for example,” he toldLe Parisien. “However, the time span is the most disruptive. The body works well with sleep but also with sunshine. Disturbances play a role in hormonal secretions and the body ends up tired.

He added, "It takes some time to readjust the body back to normal. As a result, Beckham will certainly not be able to play the next match against Montpellier.  In physiological terms playing on Friday does not seem feasible."

Beckham has made five appearances for PSG since his January move to the French capital from LA Galaxy.
