Smith sees the doctor Brit ace learns from Rossi in Jerez test

BRADLEY SMITH is hoping time spent with the doctor will be the Moto GP tonic he needs.

The British rookie makes his debut in Qatar on Sunday week lacking vital track time due to the poor weather in pre-season testing.
But Smith picked up some handy tips after following nine-time world beater Valentino Rossi — nicknamed The Doctor — around the Jerez circuit last weekend.
And the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha ace, 22, said: “I was trying to learn as much as I could.
“I followed all three Yamaha riders, Valentino as well as Jorge Lorenzo and my team-mate Cal Crutchlow.
“I learnt where to position my bike on the track as it’s different in Moto GP compared to Moto2.
“It is all about the line and preparing right for the corners. The only way to learn is to follow them and I learnt a lot.”
Smith is relishing the chance to finally race in the sport’s premier class having signed his deal with the French outfit 18 months ago.
But the Oxford-born rider has not racked up the miles he would have liked on the 1000cc bike as all three tests in Malaysia and Spain were hit by rain.
Smith added: “The 18 months have gone by quickly and I am super excited about making my debut at last.
“It was frustrating with the weather.
“I don’t think I’ve had anywhere near enough seat time although I do feel confident that I have adapted quite quickly.
“It is a little bit daunting but I’m hoping to be inside the top 10.”
