Safety first for Sam

SAM ALLARDYCE believes it is not right to sign a new contract until West Ham have reached his safety target of 38 points.

The Hammers boss’ deal runs out at the end of the season and he has been involved in negotiations with co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan.
He hinted yesterday that an agreement was close.
But Big Sam says everything is on the back burner until his squad hit that magic 38-point mark.
He said: “I always want to know we are safe first.
“I suppose I could sign a contract that said if we get relegeated then I don’t want it but I won’t do that.
“At 38 points, we all think we will be OK and then push on to 40 points if we can.”
Allardyce insists he wants to lead out West Ham when they move into the Olympic Stadium in 2016.

Safety first for Sam Allardyce at West Ham

HAMMERS boss will not sign his new contract until his tea have reached 38 points and avoided relegation
But the ex-Bolton boss is realistic enough to admit he could yet fall victim to football’s treacherous pitfalls and be out of the door by then.
He added: “If I can last that long, then I’d like to be here.
“The sack is always around the corner, thats how it is these days.”
Midfielder Joe Cole is expected to line up against West Brom at Upton Park on Saturday after shaking off a knock.
West Ham have also recalled goalkeeper Stephen Henderson from Ipswich afer Rafael Speigel broke his finger in four places while on international duty.
But Allardyce admitted he couldn’t put a date on crocked star Mark Noble’s return.
He added: “We are just taking it day by day with Mark. We have to go carefully and listen to what his specialist says.”
