Barry: Let me stay

Gareth Barry

GARETH BARRY will fight for a new deal at Manchester City.

The midfielder goes into the last year of his contract this summer and said: “I am happy here and very settled.
“I spent 12 years at Villa and I’ve spent four years at City and I’m not really one for moving around. I’d like to stay as long as possible.
“For a player to feel settled and feel very comfortable, you generally want to be playing regular football — and I’ve been lucky enough to feature in a lot of games this season.
“That’s one reason why I am happy to stay.”
Barry, 32, signed a five-year contract worth more than £100,000 a week when he joined in 2009.
Talks are yet to begin on an extension but he may have to accept reduced terms.
He joins the likes of Carlos Tevez and Joleon Lescott in going into the last year of their deals.
Barry added: “I am sure decisions will be made over the summer.”
