Rosberg takes pole for Bahrain

NICO ROSBERG snatched pole position for tomorrow’s Bahrain Grand Prix as Mercedes continued their excellent revival.

Lewis Hamilton clinched pole the previous weekend in China and now it was the turn of his team-mate.
The German finished ahead of countryman Sebastian Vettel to give Mercedes their first back-to-back pole positions since 1955.
Rosberg said: “I was surprised a little bit because yesterday we were struggling so I am very happy.
“It is a fantastic result. I now hope to kick start my season because I have had three rough races.”
Vettel added: “We are not disappointed. Congratulations to Nico, it was all his today. My lap was fine but it was clear that even with a perfect lap he was unbeatable.”
But I am happy because we have saved some tyres from qualifying, which will be very important and it is good to start from the front.”
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso made a mistake on his final lap and has to settle for third on the grid.
Meanwhile, Hamilton qualified in fourth, however, he will have a five-place grid penalty for Sunday after the team changed his gearbox before qualifying due to a suspension problem.
Jenson Button qualified in 10th and will start just behind his former McLaren team-mate.
Button was clearly delighted to make it into the final qualifying session although he did not set a lap time, meaning he has a choice of tyres to start the race.
The same could not be said for his McLaren teammate Sergio Perez, who did not make it into Q3 and will start in 12th place.
Max Chilton struggled in his Marussia and qualified in last place.
The Brit had a KERS and water pump issue in FP3.GRID TOPPER ... Nico Rosberg will start at the front in Bahrain
