Rocket will fire Crucible

WORLD AT HIS FINGERTIPS ... The Rocket is an exceptional talent

RONNIE O’SULLIVAN is on cue to become the greatest snooker player of all time.

The Rocket returns to action after a year-long lay-off on Saturday when he steps out to defend his fourth Crucible crown.
And potting legend Jimmy White reckons O’Sullivan still has the power to shatter Stephen Hendry’s record haul of seven titles — if he wants to.
White, 50, said: “If he gets his nut down and he wants it, then Ronnie is the only one who can break Hendry’s record.
“We will know after the first four frames which Ronnie has turned up. If he wants it badly enough, there’s no stopping him.
“The first round is always a banana skin and Ronnie lacks match action. But he has been practising and he has the natural talent and ability to do it.”
O’Sullivan, 37, plays qualifier Marcus Campbell, who is in good form.
Ticket sales have crashed through the £1million barrier since O’Sullivan announced he was coming out of retirement.
His mate White narrowly missed out in qualifying this year but has not given up hope of success in Sheffield after six final defeats.
White remains a huge draw on the circuit and no one knows the game like him.
He added: “Marcuse will be tough but Ronnie will step out and get a huge roar. That could ignite him.”
