RIO FERDINAND taunted Manchester City by claiming Manchester United have won the title “the right way”.
United sealed their 20th Premier League crown with four games left by beating Aston Villa 3-0 on Monday.
City nicked the title last season in injury time on the final day.
And defender Rio said: “It’s always sweet when you win the title and it’s nice to do it in the right way and in style, not on goal difference.
“We have won it outright and we have won it comfortably.”
The gap at the top between United and City is now 16 points — as the Red Devils eye a record 96.
Ferdinand added: “It just shows the resilience and attitude the manager has instilled in us. A lot of teams would probably have fallen away.
“We played Liverpool a few seasons ago when they were fighting for the title.
“We beat them and got to the league before them and they’ve not been seen since.
“That shows the mentality and character that this club has.”
