ANDY MURRAY has been forced to give up his first love — football.
The Scot, who had a trial with Rangers as a teenager, needed several painkilling injections in his back during last year’s clay-court season. And Murray, 25, who faces Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France at the Monte Carlo Masters tomorrow, said: “I used to play a lot of football and golf but I have stopped all of that now.
“I’ve been playing tennis a long time and you pick up things so you have to manage your body.
“When it starts affecting matches it’s an issue — but my back has been better the last few months.”
