VINCENT KOMPANY insists deposed champions Manchester City are no flash in the pan — and will prove it by becoming one of Europe’s superpowers.
The Etihad skipper has lifted the gloom of seeing United win the title by saying foundations are in place for City to enjoy a sustained spell of success.
Asked if Roberto Mancini’s side will one day lift Europe’s top prize, Kompany, 27, said: “The same questions were asked about the Premier League and we did it.
“It’s inevitable we will, when you see the investment that’s been made. I’m talking about the infrastructure for the young players. It’s more than just the players on the pitch.
“There’s an enormous amount of work going on and maybe we’re more competitive on a European level behind the scenes. But on the pitch, it will come.”
